This is a face to face clinical rotation receiving 3.5 or 7 credit hours. The purpose of this elective is to acquaint the student with the general principles of solid organ transplantation and afford them the opportunity to participate in a number of tertiary care surgical problem situations. The specific skills involve learning detailed aspects of renal, hepatic and pancreatic replacement, including indications, selection of donors and recipients, histocompatibility testing, preoperative care, and complications.
