PHCY 1205 - Interprofessional Education and Clinical Simulation ll Cr Hrs: 1.5 (0.5-2-0)
This required course is a continuation of PHCY 1105 and is designed to use a combination of lectures, team-based learning, and clinical simulation to teach and assess skills-based activities essential to the practice of pharmacy. The course also prepares student pharmacists to advocate for, provide education about, and administer vaccines through the use of a highly interactive didactic and laboratory classes designed to address immunization needs, compensation, marketing, legal and regulatory issues, and injection-technique training. At conclusion of the course the student pharmacist will be certified by the American Pharmacists Association to administer Immunizations. The course also includes interprofessional exercises with the expressed purpose of bringing together learners from two or more health professions to increase mutual respect and understanding of their unique roles and perspectives, to enhance collaboration and communication, and to improve patient outcomes.
This course may be repeated for up to 1.5 credit hours.
