PHCY 3108 - Dietary Supplements Cr Hrs: 1 (1-0-0)
The required course is designed to educate students on dietary supplement utilization in the prevention and management of human disease. Federal regulations governing definition, labeling, and manufacturing of dietary supplements will be covered. In addition, evidence-based medicine to support the use of dietary supplements in both general and patient-specific populations along with the potential for drug-herbal interactions will be reviewed. The emerging fields of nutrigenetics and nutrigenomics will be introduced with an emphasis on personalized supplement utilization and research opportunities.
This course may be repeated for up to 1 credit hours.
