SUR 45075 - Peripheral Vascular Surgery

This is a face to face clinical rotation receiving 6 credit hours. The student must demonstrate competency in several of the Entrustable Professional Activities required for graduation. Program participants are assigned to staff physicians. Patients with vascular (arterial and venous) diseases on the surgery service at Erlanger Hospital as well as private patients serve as case material. The spectrum of diagnosis and treatment of vascular disease is covered. Participants are expected to present patients during daily rounds, attend the surgical conferences each week and attend vascular clinics. Participants will participate in the 24 hour call nights assigned by the department and are expected to understand underlying pathophysiology and develop patient treatment plans. They will help guide the case presentations in vascular surgery done by the M3 core students and will be expected to give a student presentation to M3 peers.
