PAS 545 - Pathophysiology I

This course is the first of two courses designed to provide a foundation in normal physiology while introducing associated pathology associated with various medical conditions as a way to assist in bridging physiological principles with common diseases. The purpose of this course is to enable first year PA students to understand mechanisms that allow the body to function at the cellular, tissue, organ system and whole-body levels, with an emphasis on organ system and whole-body levels, and how these mechanisms are affected in pathologic states. In addition, students will be given the opportunity to apply what they have learned through a variety of small group exercises which will be presented in class.
