OBG3 3050/F - Junior Internship in Women’s Health

Cr Hrs: 7
Session Length: 4 weeks

PD

This is a face to face clinical rotation receiving 7 credit hours. The student will function as a junior intern with increased autonomy in patient care and must demonstrate competency in all of the Entrustable Professional Activities required for graduation. This course will expand upon the students’ third year OB/GYN Clerkship and give the student increasing responsibility. Basic OB and GYN skills, both inpatient and outpatient, will be strengthened.  Prior to the beginning of the month, the clerk will work with Dr. Dassow to tailor the 4-week experience to achieve their particular learning goals.  Experiences in reproductive endocrinology and infertility, urodynamics, maternal-fetal medicine, GYN-ONC and private general OB-GYN practice are all possible.  Students may spend time in the OR and on L&D as well as in the office.  Rural outreach clinic is also an option. Participation in the Night Float team, opportunities for skills lab and mammography are also available. Each Friday morning the student will participate in didactics. This experience is ideal for students considering a residency in OB/GYN as well as those interested in learning more about women’s health.
