RNFA 540G - Surgical Techniques
Cr Hrs: 3 (3-0-0) This course will focus on the expanded functions unique to the Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA) role during the intraoperative period. The course includes the recommended content of the Core Curriculum for the RNFA and is designed to develop the beginning knowledge and skills needed for safe RNFA practice. Surgical practice and techniques such as sterile technique, positioning and draping, using instruments and medical devices, providing exposure, handling and cutting tissue, providing hemostasis, and suturing will be emphasized in a 40 hour on-campus simulation laboratory experience during the course.
