MED 40114 - Junior Intership in Hospitalist Medicine - MUH
Cr Hrs: 6 Session Length: 4 weeks
This is a face-to-face clinical rotation. The student will function as a junior intern with increased autonomy in patient care and must demonstrate competency in all of the Entrustable Professional Activities required for graduation. This junior internship offers increased responsibility in inpatient general medicine. It counts as one of the required Any JI rotations. The student will be acting as an intern and will be working directly with an attending faculty member. They will be responsible for direct patient care including admitting patients, writing orders, and diagnosing and managing patients on a general medicine ward service. The student will attend daily work r:ounds and teaching rounds. Patient care activities are paramount, and students are expected to be an integral member of the team. Students will be based at Methodist University. This JI is very similar to the General Medicine JI, but rather than having a full team including attending/senior resident/intems/M3’s, the JI will work directly one on one with an attending. Other expectations of type of patient, patient load, expectations for documentation are similar to the general medicine JI.
