MSCI 931 - Immunity and Inflammation
Cr Hrs: 3 (48-0-0) The course will provide a comprehensive overview of resistance to infection and immunity to viral and bacterial pathogens. Lectures will present in detail the molecular genetic, structural, and cellular mechanisms that determine innate and adaptive immune cell activation and effector function. The literature review will use landmark papers to document research that has elucidated innate and adaptive immune mechanisms that determine resistance to infection by bacteria and viruses. At the end of the course, students will have a comprehensive understanding of innate and adaptive immunity to viruses and bacteria.
