PED 45035 - Pediatric Pulmonology
Cr Hrs: 3, 6 Session Length: 2 and 4 weeks
This is a face to face clinical rotation receiving 3 or 6 credit hours. The student should function with increased autonomy in patient care and must demonstrate competency in several of the Entrustable Professional Activities required for graduation. This elective provides students an opportunity to participate in the evaluation and treatment of patients with chronic and acute respiratory problems, severe asthma and cystic fibrosis. During the rotation the student will have the opportunity to see pulmonary patients in both the out-patient and in-patient setting. The student will become familiar with pulmonary function testing and other aspects of respiratory care. There will be an opportunity to observe flexible bronchoscopy on a variety of patients from infancy to adolescence. Attendance of morning report and grand rounds is encouraged. There will be an open book self-paced examination.
