PHCY 1104 - Foundations of Pharmacy

This required course provides an introduction to the profession of pharmacy. Students will learn of the history of pharmacy services and evolution from a product-centered to a patient-centered profession.  Students will learn about the future of pharmacy and a variety of career opportunities. The roles and responsibilities of the pharmacist in society, patient care, and to the healthcare team will be highlighted. The course also examines the what it means to be a professional in society, as well as human behaviors and values as mediators of health and illness, with a focus on health care disparities and health literacy.
