PHAC 817 - Drug Metabolism
Cr Hrs: 3 (48-0-0) Fundamental principles underlying human drug metabolism and the major drug metabolizing enzymes will be reviewed. One third of the course will cover kinetic models, factors regulating drug metabolism, and methods for studying human enzymes. Two thirds of the course will cover the biochemistry, substrate specificity, tests of phenotype and/or genotype in vitro and in vivo, population distribution, regulation, tissue distribution, and clinical and biologic significance for the P450s and several other important phase I and phase II enzymes.
