PHCY 2105 - Interprofessional Education and Clinical Simulation III
Cr Hrs: 1 (0-2-0) This required course is the third course in the IPECS series and is a continuation of PHCY 1205. The course is designed to teach students a consistent approach to the pharmacist patient care process and assess skills-based activities through the use of active learning, team-based learning and clinical simulation. The course will focus on application and documentation of the pharmacist patient care process in the management of chronic diseases to a diverse community, highlighting social determinants of health. Students will practice problem-solving skills to develop patient-centered care plans to improve patient outcomes. Class activities will demonstrate the integral role of the pharmacist as a member of the outpatient healthcare team. Students participate in interprofessional education with other health profession students with the goals of developing mutual respect, understanding of team members’ unique roles and responsibilities, and the importance of collaboration and communication of the healthcare team.
