OBG 40160 - Junior Internship in Maternal Fetal Medicine
Cr Hrs: 6 Session Length: 4 weeks
This is a face to face clinical rotation receiving 6 credit hours. The student will function as a junior intern with increased autonomy in patient care and must demonstrate competency in all of the Entrustable Professional Activities required for graduation. The JI will round on selected patients on the Maternal-Fetal Inpatient Unit daily, understand and document the plan of care for them, and present those patients to the team on rounds. Each day the JI will participate in antepartum evaluations including fetal monitoring and ultrasonography. If the antepartum unit is quiet, the JI will participate in the care of patients on Labor and Delivery or in the OB Emergency Room area. The JI will participate in the documentation of the care provided and will help maintain patient lists to ensure accurate handovers to the night team. The JI will function as a resident in regard to attending didactics and presenting to the team in a formal lecture setting on two occasions.
