SUR 45072 - Vascular Surgery
Cr Hrs: 6 Session Length: 4 weeks

This is a face to face clinical rotation receiving 6 credit hours. The student should function with increased autonomy in patient care and must demonstrate competency in several of the Entrustable Professional Activities required for graduation. The Vascular Surgery Elective is a busy clinical rotation in which the student will gain exposure and clinical experience to a variety of vascular disease related processes including cerebrovascular disease, peripheral vascular disease, aortoiliac occlusive disease as well as complex wound management. The student will gain experience with a variety of open and endovascular surgery techniques as well as vascular trauma, hemodialysis access and complex wound management. Patient exposure, outpatient clinic and hospital rotation will be exclusively at Regional One Health. The vascular surgery elective is an intense clinical rotation with a very robust operative and technical exposure, potential for increased autonomy and recommended for those seriously considering general surgery, interventional radiology and/or a surgical subspecialty.
