This course focuses on achieving proficiency with the healthy patient and the patient with mild systemic disease (no functional limitation) for routine and emergency surgery. Students are assigned to patients with ASA physical status classifications of 1, 1E, 2, and 2E, as well as severe systemic disease (some functional limitations) with ASA physical status classifications of 3 and 3E.
