OBG 30000 - Core Clerkship in Obstetrics & Gynecology (Chattanooga)
Cr Hrs: 9 Session Length: 6 weeks

This is a face-to-face clinical rotation receiving 9 credit hours. The purpose of this core clerkship experience is to learn and understand the basic principles and practice of Obstetrics and Gynecology and develop a general understanding of women’s health. The rotation involves inpatient and outpatient care of obstetrical, gynecologic, and gynecologic-oncology patients, including assisting and/or performing deliveries, clinic procedures and surgeries under the supervision of an attending/resident. Students spend 4 nights in a row assigned to the night team, but have no 24hr or weekend call. During clinic weeks, students attend private and resident clinics. Students attend rounds, lectures, and conferences associated with the respective services. Each student will take the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE), Social Determinates of Health (SDOH) presentation and assigned quizzes. Assignment of grades is based on clinical performance, determined by evaluations from residents and attending’s and the NBME examination administered at the end of the rotation.
