SUR 40150 - Junior Internship in Plastic Surgery
Cr Hrs: 6 Session Length: 4 weeks

This is a face to face clinical rotation receiving 6 credit hours. The student will function as a junior intern with increased autonomy in patient care and must demonstrate competency in all of the Entrustable Professional Activities required for graduation.The student will function in pre-operative and post-operative care and operative surgery as a member of the surgical team. The rotation will be distributed as 4 7-day experiences at each Plastic Surgery location (ROH, MUH, LEB, Aesthetic). The student will be under the direction of the Chief Resident at ROH for the entire experience with exposure to multiple PS faculty. The student will keep an excel spreadsheet log of faculty they have exposure to in the OR and/or Clinical setting for longitudinal evaluation purposes. The student will be included in the pager system so they receive the page along with the resident on call. The student will have first opportunity to head in to see the consult, write the consult note and write proposed assessments/plans/orders that will be reviewed by the resident. The resident will then discuss the plan with the student for implementation and review the consult notes/orders.
