OBG 45090 - Transition to OB/GYN Residency

This is a face to face clinical rotation receiving 3 credit hours. The student should function with increased autonomy in patient care and must demonstrate competency in several of the Entrustable Professional Activities required for graduation. The aim of the course is to improve residency readiness for the UTHSC 4th year students about the enter Ob/Gyn residency. The content of the course is mapped to the ACGME Ob/Gyn Level One Milestones. The course will be 2 weeks in duration and will include a pre and post-test to assess the student’s improvement and mastery of the content presented. The course will include lectures performed by the students and faculty, review of relevant surgical and pelvic anatomy, and simulations ranging from FLS (surgical skills), knot tying, suturing, ultrasound, obstetric emergencies, residents as teachers, how to manage burnout, how to effectively page and perform a consult. The daily sessions will be interprofessional and include medical students, nurses, residents, and faculty.
