PED 45037 - Pediatric Infectious Diseases
Cr Hrs: 3, 6 Session Length: 2 or 4 weeks

This is a face to face clinical rotation receiving 3 or 6 credit hours. The student should function with increased autonomy in patient care and must demonstrate competency in several of the Entrustable Professional Activities required for graduation. This elective will provide M4 student with exposure to field of Pediatric Infectious Diseases with exposure to both inpatient consults and outpatient clinic. Student will receive one-on-one learning from Pediatric ID faculty. Student will be expected to obtain initial histories and physical exams for both inpatient consults (NICU, PICU, ED, acute care floor) and outpatient clinic visits. Consult patients are typically seen in the morning and clinic is held Mon - Thurs afternoons. Students will be expected to discuss their findings, impressions, and plans with Pediatric ID faculty. Student will be expected to document in the EMR. Student will have access to large amount of relevant reading material.
