OT 625 - Physical Agent Modalities
Cr Hrs: 1 PM
This course considers knowledge and skills necessary for selecting and utilizing physical agent modalities within the context of occupational therapy practice. Emphasis is on safety and the use of physical agent modalities (PAMs) as an aspect of occupation-based intervention. Licensure requirements, competency, indications, contraindications, and safety issues are addressed. This course covers theoretical concepts and indications along with clinical reasoning necessary for the selection and application of various types of superficial and deep thermal modalities. Students are required to complete competencies (skills assessment) for proper and safe use of the modalities for successful completion of this course.
