A study of fundamental concepts of human immunology, both theoretical and practical application, which includes the in vivo mechanisms underlying the response to infectious agents, alteration of immunity, aberrant immunity, tumor immunity, and hypersensitivity. Use of immunologic tests in the detection, diagnosis, and monitoring of infections and pathologic disorders of the immune system in the medical laboratory. Assessment of results for validity and quality control.
