PED 40125 - Junior Internship in PICU

This is a face to face clinical rotation receiving 6 credit hours. This is a face to face clinical rotation receiving 6 credit hours. The student will function as a junior intern with increased autonomy in patient care and must demonstrate competency in all of the Entrustable Professional Activities required for graduation. JIs in the PICU will have an introduction to pediatric critical care concepts. Students will have increased autonomy compared to a pediatric clerkship student, and will be expected to develop management plans for critically ill patients, subsequently communicate those plans to team members and patient families during bedside rounds, and document appropriately in the electronic medical record. This will be completed with direct supervision from a resident or attending intensivist. JIs might also have the opportunity to participate in various procedures. Schedule includes 3 weeks of day shift and 1 week of night float with 1 assigned day off each week.
