OTD 805 - Biomechanical Aspects of Occupational Performance
Cr Hrs: 4 PD
This course emphasizes understanding of the human musculoskeletal system and application of biomechanical principles to posture and movement required for occupational performance. Study of bones, joints, muscles, posture, balance, and locomotion will be presented in lecture, lab and problem-based learning formats. Selection and administration of assessment tools and scoring and interpretation of assessment data will be applied and discussed. Experiential labs will provide the opportunity to develop skills in assessing joint range of motion, muscle strength, and balance, as well as the opportunity to practice bed mobility, transfer techniques, fitting and application of assistive devices for functional mobility, and wheelchair management.
