NSG 932 - Grantsmanship

This course builds upon grant development methods included in prerequisite courses; it is designed for
graduate students and clinician-scientists as a culminating class to prepare them to successfully compete
for funding and pursue research careers. Fundamental components of a research grant will be presented,
providing students with the knowledge to seek and solicit grant awards from federal, professional
organizations, and foundation sources to support public and nonprofit programs and projects. As a
model, a key focus will be on the National Institutes of Health (NIH) F32 and K award applications for
which new Ph.D. graduates are well positioned to apply, along with developing the foundation necessary
to prepare the R mechanisms. Content covering pre- and post-award grant management is also included.
