MED 35007 - Dermatologic Oncology and Mohs CE
Cr Hrs: 3 Session Length: 2 weeks
PD
This is a face to face clinical rotation. This career exploration course (CE) will allow third year medical students to explore this discipline as a potential career choice. This rotation is designed for a late M3 or any M4 student who is interested in learning more about cutaneous oncology in a practice primarily focused on Mohs Micrographic Surgery. This rotation will not provide significant training toward general dermatology. Interested students should anticipate a residency in dermatology or surgery (ENT, plastic or general). Ideally, students will already have completed their surgery rotation, and possess rudimentary surgical skills. Completing the AAD Basic Dermatology Curriculum is encouraged, is free of charge from the American Academy of Dermatology’s website, but is not required to enroll in this rotation. The rotation will include experience and training in suturing, cutaneous oncology, frozen pathology, as well as reconstructive techniques. A reading assignment schedule will be expected. A 4 day workweek will permit adequate time for study toward this end.
