RON 35005 - Radiation Oncology CE - West Clinic

This is a face to face clinical rotation. This career exploration course (CE) will allow third year medical students to explore this discipline as a potential career choice. This two-week elective in Radiation Oncology provides third year medical students with an introduction to the principles and practices of radiation therapy in cancer care. Students will participate in a combination of didactic lectures, case discussions, and hands-on clinical experience, working closely with radiation oncologists, physicists, dosimetrists, and therapists. Key topics include treatment planning, radiation techniques, the role of radiation in cancer management, and the management of radiationrelated side effects. Students will observe daily patient care In outpatient settings, attend tumor board meetings, and participate in treatment planning sessions. By the end of the elective, students will have a foundational understanding of radiation oncology and its multidisciplinary approach to cancer treatment, preparing them for careers in oncology or other specialties that collaborate with radiation oncologists.
