Nuclear Pharmacy Certificate

The Nuclear Pharmacist Certificate Program is a 3-course program offered by the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Pharmacy.  Students are eligible to enroll after successfully completing their second year of professional education.  The certificate includes the following courses: PHCY 5026 - Nuclear Pharmacy I Elective ; PHCY 5027 - Nuclear Pharmacy II Elective ; & PHCY 5031 - Nuclear Pharmacy III Elective . The nuclear certificate is offered on the Memphis campus only. The courses provide 200 hours of classroom and laboratory instruction that are credited toward the 700 hours required by the NRC to be an authorized nuclear pharmacist. The remaining 500 hours of experiential training can be acquired during two nuclear pharmacy rotations, internships, and working under the direct supervision of an authorized nuclear pharmacist either as a pharmacy student or after graduating. Documentation of hours from the didactic program and the experiential training are required in order to be listed as an authorized nuclear pharmacist on a pharmacy or hospital radioactive materials license.  The College of Pharmacy will accept a maximum of six (6) credits of Nuclear Pharmacy coursework towards elective requirements in the PharmD program.
