Health Informatics and Information Management (HIIM) Certificate

The Certificate in Health Informatics and Information Management (offered through the College of Health Professions) is available for select students enrolled in the PharmD program.

The goal of the online Certificate in Health Informatics and Information Management is to provide the basic skills needed to practice in an electronic healthcare environment for the student who does not wish enroll in the Master in Health Informatics and Information Management (HIIM) program. Students enrolled in the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Pharmacy (COP) Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program with a cumulative professional GPA of at least 3.0 are eligible to apply.

Each year, 5 spots are available in the certificate program tuition free. Based on a review of application materials, a committee will decide those students who will occupy the five spots. Students not selected for the program will not pay fall or spring semester tuition for HIIM courses, but will pay the prevailing tuition for summer courses in the HIIM program.

The COP will accept a maximum of six (6) credits of HIIM coursework with a grade earned of C- or better towards elective requirements in the PharmD program.
