Degrees Offered

The College of Pharmacy offers the Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD) . This is an entry-level professional doctorate similar to that of other health professions (e.g., Medicine, Dentistry).  The College of Pharmacy offers two pathways to earn the PharmD degree. All students are admitted to the 4-year pathway.  Interested students who meet academic criteria may apply during the Fall of their first professional year for a 3-year accelerated path, named the Immersive PharmD Accelerated Track or ImPAcT.  A pre-specified number of students will be selected to begin the ImPAcT at the end of the Fall semester of the first professional year. Students selected for the ImPAcT program will complete the same curriculum and credit hours over 3-years by minimizing breaks.

A Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences (BSPS) degree is offered by the College of Pharmacy to students enrolled in the PharmD program after four academic semesters or after the second professional year with documentation of general education requirements. Graduate programs leading to either the Master of Science or to the Doctor of Philosophy degree are available through the UTHSC College of Graduate Health Sciences . Graduate degrees are offered in pharmaceutical sciences (with concentrations in medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutics, bioanalysis, and pharmacometrics) as well as in health outcomes and policy research (with concentrations in health policy/health services research and in health systems pharmacy management). A dual PharmD/PhD program, based within the College of Pharmacy (PharmD) and the College of Graduate Health Sciences (PhD), is available to select students. Additional information on graduate studies can be found in the College of Graduate Health Sciences  portion of this bulletin. The College also offers a dual PharmD/Master of Health Informatics and Information Management (MHIIM)  program, based within the Colleges of Pharmacy (PharmD) and Health Professions which is available to select students. Finally, the College and the University of Memphis offer three degree programs, leading to a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Fogelman College of Business and Economics, a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) and a Master of Science in Instruction and Curriculum Leadership (MS ICL), or a Master in Public Health (MPH) from the School of Public Health. Certificates in Health Informatics and Information Management  (offered through the College of Health Professions), Nuclear Pharmacy , and Rural Health are available for select students enrolled in the PharmD program; additional information is available from the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and Assessment.
