Authorization and Accreditation


The University of Tennessee is authorized by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission as a postsecondary institution of higher education (https://www.tn.gov/thec.html). Authorization is renewed each year and is based on an evaluation by minimum standards concerning quality of education, ethical business practices, health and safety, and fiscal responsibility.

The University of Tennessee Health Science Center is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award baccalaureate, master’s, and doctorate degrees.
