PED 45022 - Pediatric Gastroenterology & Nutrition Cr Hrs: 3, 6 Session Length: 2 and 4 weeks
This is a face to face clinical rotation receiving 3 or 6 credit hours. The student should function with increased autonomy in patient care and must demonstrate competency in several of the Entrustable Professional Activities required for graduation. This clinical elective offers an experience in both outpatient and inpatient pediatric gastroenterology and nutrition. Owing to the large referral population of the division, participants can be expected to encounter patients with a wide variety of gastrointestinal and hepatic disorders. Normal physiology, pathologic physiology, techniques of evaluation, histologic pathology, and therapy will be discussed. Participants will be able to observe different diagnostic procedures such as endoscopy, colonoscopy, liver biopsy, etc. Participants will also be expected to be actively involved in the evaluation and management of hospitalized patients.
