SUR1 3012/F - Junior Internship in General Surgery

Session Length: 4 weeks

This is a face to face clinical rotation receiving 7 credit hours. The student will function as a junior intern with increased autonomy in patient care and must demonstrate competency in all of the Entrustable Professional Activities required for graduation. This elective provides a unique opportunity to experience an extremely broad range of pathology from Memphis and the Mid-South area in its role as a tertiary care institution. The elective is structured to provide intern-level responsibilities for the senior student. In addition, special areas of interest are easily accommodated in this institution. The student is expected to prepare for cases, be present in the OR, make rounds with the team, and participate in clinic serving patients with a broad range of GI pathology, and attend weekly resident conferences.
