DPHA 205B - Dental Pharmacology
Cr Hrs: 2 (27-0-0) This course is designed to introduce the student to the basic principles of drug action, drug dose-response relationships and drug interactions to provide a sound basis for understanding practical dental therapeutics. Drug categories most important for beginning dental practice are introduced in this course, such as drugs affecting the autonomic nervous system, analgesic and anesthesia drugs, and antibiotics. This course later concentrates on categories of drugs that may be encountered in dental practice, such as drugs administered for therapeutic medical treatment of patents that may affect dental health or dental practice. Section B is a continuation of section A which is offered in the Fall.
