SUR 35075 - Peripheral Vascular Surgery CE
Cr Hrs: 3 Session Length: 2 weeks
This is a face to face clinical rotation receiving 3 credit hours. This career exploration course (CE) will allow third year medical students to explore this discipline as a potential career choice. Program participants are assigned to staff physicians. Patients with vascular (arterial and venous) diseases on the surgery service at Erlanger Hospital as well as private patients serve as case material. The spectrum of diagnosis and treatment of vascular disease is covered. Participants are expected to present patients during daily rounds, attend the surgical conferences each week and attend vascular clinics. Participants will participate in the 24 hour call nights assigned by the department and are expected to understand underlying pathophysiology and develop patient treatment plans. They will also help guide the case presentations in vascular surgery done by the M3 core students.
