This course addresses a variety of psychosocial topics involving health care professionals, patients, families, and other caregivers. Topics covered include communication, stress management, models for behavior change, selected evidenced-based counseling techniques, social determinants of health, family systems, biopsychosocial assessment and management of pain, the impact of disability, common psychiatric disorders, addictive behaviors, abuse, grief processes, spirituality, and human sexuality.
