SUR 30000 - Core Clerkship in Surgery (Chattanooga)
Cr Hrs: 12 Session Length: 8 weeks

This is a face to face clinical rotation receiving 12 credit hours. This eight-week clerkship encompasses general, vascular, acute critical services, pediatric, and trauma surgery. The objective of this clerkship is to familiarize the student with the basic pathophysiologic, diagnostic, and therapeutic modalities involved in the art and science of surgery. Students will advance their hands-on skills in clinical practice and skills lab provides over the duration of their stay and the fundamentals taught in this rotation will be of benefit to individuals of any medical division, providing an insight to patient care he or she may have yet to experience. In addition to this clinical involvement, each student will be involved in group conferences with the surgical faculty as well as attend didactic lecture series delivered by members of the surgical staff. Student should expect at least five 24-hour call shifts over the eight week period.
