OBG 40145 - Junior Internship in Gynecologic Oncology
Cr Hrs: 6 Session Length: 4 weeks
PD
This is a face to face clinical rotation receiving 6 credit hours. The student will function as a junior intern with increased autonomy in patient care and must demonstrate competency in all of the Entrustable Professional Activities required for graduation. Students will join us for the month to garner a much more comprehensive understanding of the care necessary to treat women with gynecologic malignancies. We expect them to act as interns taking ownership of the patient, participating in their surgical procedures,
and proposing plans for management of their disease, post-operative courses, and complications related to procedural intervention or treatment. Through their close contact and care of our patients, they will gain an understanding of the compassion and empathy these women deserve during such a trying time in their life. By the end of the month, we expect the student to be able to describe and list common signs and symptoms, different methods for diagnosing, treatment options, and routing follow-up for gynecologic malignancies.
