The University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Pharmacy (COP) and the College Health Professions (COHP), Department of Health Informatics and Information Management have aligned to offer a Dual Degree Program leading to a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from the UTHSC and a Master in Informatics and Information Management (MHIIM).
Students interested in the PharmD/MHIIM must apply and be accepted to both programs separately. Acceptance by one program does not guarantee admission to the other degree program as each admission process is conducted on an independent basis. In order to be eligible for consideration in the MHIIM program, a student must have either a bachelor’s degree or have completed the first year of the PharmD program (PharmD) and have a COP cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 after the first professional year. Applicants may substitute PCAT scores for the GRE.
Students will complete all requirements for each degree and be awarded the PharmD and MHIIM degrees according to all requirements and specifications for each degree. Students must complete 33 hours in the MHIIM curriculum. The COP will accept a maximum of eight (8) credits of MHIIM coursework that will be counted towards elective requirements in the PharmD program.
Students in the COP will not pay fall or spring semester tuition for MHIIM courses associated with this dual degree program. However, students will pay the prevailing tuition for summer courses in the MHIIM program.
