PharmD/MS ICL

The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) College of Pharmacy and the University of Memphis Department of Instruction and Curriculum Leadership have aligned to offer an easy transfer of some credits between the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from the UTHSC and a Master of Science in Instruction and Curriculum Leadership (MS ICL). The MS ICL prepares students with a foundation in teaching, learning, and assessment skills.

Student must complete all requirements for each degree and be awarded the PharmD and MS ICL degrees according to all requirements and specifications for each degree at the respective institutions. Students must apply and be accepted to both programs separately. Acceptance by one program does not guarantee admission to the other degree program as each admission process is conducted on an independent basis. Both institutions will collect tuition and fees separately.

A student must fulfill all requirements for admission to the MS ICL program as specified by the University of Memphis. Students who do not have a bachelor degree must complete all requirements of the PharmD degree prior to the MS ICL being awarded. The MS ICL program will accept as transfer a maximum of 7 credit hours of pre-determined pharmacy coursework.  The PharmD program will accept as transfer a maximum of six (6) credit hours of MS ICL coursework with a grade earned of C- or better towards elective credit hour requirements in the PharmD program.  Students are responsible to request transfer of credit.  Transfer of credit must occur prior to entering Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences.

For more information about this program, contact Dr. Dawn Havrda at dhavrda@uthsc.edu (UTHSC) or Dr. DeAnna Owens at dgish@memphis.edu (University of Memphis).
